don’t you see she is being brainwashed by smoke? i suppose she meets people from church often. So you probably can’t really blame her either, though she isn’t entirely blameless either, as this type of mind control likely simply greatly amplifies qualities that are already in person.
It’s like seeing bridge and thinking “i want to jump”. Many such qualities are supressed by rational mind in person, but this mind control can bring them to surface. She might have thought her kids to be useless some day, but supressed those thoughts as absurd and wrong. But now under mind control — they resurface again.
